The Iowa Health and Human Services’ Bureau of Emergency and Trauma Services (BETS) and the American College of Surgeons-Committee on Trauma, Iowa Chapter are hosting Iowa’s 2024 Trauma Conference on September 10 and 11, 2024.

Iowa’s 2024 Trauma Conference consists of a pre-conference training day with opportunities for professional development and hands-on skills training. The Trauma Conference day focuses on clinical aspects of trauma care and emergency preparedness for healthcare and public health. The conference day is organized into five training tracks with the following focus areas: EMS, nursing, physicians, hospital preparedness, and public health preparedness. Participants may engage in any of the trainings provided in the various tracks.

Iowa’s 2024 Trauma Conference Mission and Scope
Conference Mission: Provide opportunities for collaboration and education of multidisciplinary partners to ensure the optimal care of trauma patients resulting from isolated and mass casualty incidents.

Conference Scope:

• Provide trauma education to enhance the knowledge of the trauma system’s workforce.
• Develop strength within each system discipline and increase collaboration between system partners for a coordinated response to trauma-inducing incidents.
• Increase knowledge within the emergency preparedness community to support coordination of emergency response to mass casualty incidents.

Intended Audience
The intended audience for the conference includes physicians, advanced care practitioners, nurses, emergency medical services personnel, and public health and hospital emergency preparedness professionals.

Cancellation Policy
If you can no longer attend the conference, you may request a refund of your registration fee. If you cancel prior to August 14, 2024, your registration costs will be refunded less a $20 processing fee. If you cancel after August 14, 2024, you will not be guaranteed any refund, therefore we recommend finding a substitute to attend in your place. Substitutions may be made through September 2, 2024. You must contact registrations@iastate.edu for any cancellations or substitution requests.
