Agriculture Related Emergency

James Hart, MD is an emergency medicine and EMS physician in Decatur, IL. He is a staff physician with Mid America Emergency Physicians and works at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur and Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville, IL. He attended medical school at the University of Missouri-Columbia, completed emergency medicine residency at Southern Illinois University and completed a fellowship in EMS at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. His medical interests include rural EMS and agromedicine.

Working in primary production agriculture exposes individuals to a multitude of potential traumatic and medical emergencies unique to this field. This presentation will review the types of hazards and injury patterns related to production agriculture and will highlight prehospital and hospital responses to the various types of agriculture related emergencies.
