Session Description: During this presentation, Amanda will be sharing her lived experience with perinatal SUD and her journey to recovery. Attendees will learn how compassionate healthcare can change someone’s life.

  • Identify the role stigma plays in clinicians providing care for patients with Perinatal SUD and the barriers that come with it.
  • How you treat someone who is struggling with a SUD in a healthcare setting can have a huge impact on that persons recovery

Amanda Eleazer
Peer Recovery Coach, University of Iowa Addiction and Recovery Collaborative

Amanda Eleazer is a Peer Recovery Coach for the University of Iowa Addiction and Recovery Collaborative. She has provided recovery services to all UI ARC patients and throughout the UI Hospital on their Addiction Medicine Consult service. She also spends a lot of time trying to educate providers on how to provide quality healthcare to people with a substance use disorder.
