2019 Conference

We are pleased to welcome you to the Second International Interactive Symposium on Ultra-High Performance Concrete (2IIS-UHPC) to be held in Albany, New York, USA from June 2 to 5, 2019. Building on the success of the first symposium held in July 2016, we are bringing together the UHPC Community for more learning, networking, and advancement of this innovative technology.

The interactive symposium will afford professionals working on all aspects of UHPC to:

  • share knowledge about applications and opportunities,
  • broaden technical depth,
  • identify knowledge gaps and
  • grow the UHPC family dedicated to truly working together to achieve similar goals.

Ultra-high performance concrete can be seen as a major breakthrough in concrete technology in the last century. The material has attracted the interest of many researchers, designers, practitioners, agencies, societies, contractors and suppliers through its excellent mechanical performance and its resistance against environmental degradation. UHPC has an increasingly large world-wide research audience increasing the number of published journal papers and conference articles. UHPC unites people, disciplines and societies to achieve goals of high impact. Those goals are directed towards an enhancement of our safety, health and living conditions. They positively impacting our environment, counteract the degradation of our infrastructure, and provide inspiring, sustainable and cost-efficient solutions to current and future design problems.

The symposium will include Innovation Awards and provide a platform to present recent Ultra High Performance Concrete activities, research and breakthroughs as well as to participate in hot topic panel discussions, led by industry leaders, where active participation is encouraged. Topics include the latest developments in UHPC architectural and structural design applications emphasizing enhanced performance, sustainability, durability, resiliency and cost efficiency. Additional topics will cover material characterization, numerical and structural modeling, repair and retrofit, bridge design and construction, architectural and security applications, and more.

The Symposium will be an outstanding opportunity for networking with a wide range of experts, from local engineers and architects to international industry leaders. We expect over 300 architects, engineers, researchers, owners, fabricators, and suppliers ranging in experience from leading senior A/E and academics to young professionals and graduate students to attend.

We offer interactive engagement through networking, technical sessions and panel discussions, and tours of relevant UHPC projects. Take advantage of our break times to meet new project partners and catch up with longtime friends of the industry . State-of-the-art smart phone technology will be used for to facilitate technical discussions, allowing for more interactive communication with industry experts. A full day of tours will take attendees to key locations highlighting innovative solutions using UHPC .

The UHPC Student Competition will host student teams from around the world to hone their skills at designing and testing an aesthetically pleasing and structurally efficient UHPC beam.

The International Scientific Committee, comprised of world renowned experts in UHPC, will oversee the scholarly works of the Symposium including review of technical posters and papers, facilitation of topic panel discussions, and selection of award winning manuscripts. Click here for more information on our technical programs and committee members.
Ultra-High Performance Concrete Innovation Awards will be presented at the Symposium Awards Gala to celebrate the implementation and exemplary use of UHPC in buildings, structures and non-structural applications . Awards will be presented for innovative technologies and progressive practices to promote excellence in design, craftsmanship and construction of UHPC elements. Innovation Award applicants can find more information here.

Our Sponsorship program is designed to provide organizations with the opportunity to increase their profile in the local and global markets while supporting the UHPC Community as a whole. Opportunities for sponsorships from Platinum to Bronze levels, are available along with many other opportunities to be associated with this prodigious event including the student competition and tour events.

We look forward to your attendance at the Second International Interactive Symposium on UHPC!
