Special Events- UPHC Interactive Day
Interactive Day – Tuesday June 4
All transportation is provided for the options listed below. Plan on a full day of activities, departing the Albany Hilton Hotel early morning and returning late afternoon. Lunch and snacks will also be provided. Buses depart from the Albany Hilton hotel front entrance (under the overhang).
Option 1 – Overlay Tour – Observe construction of the first UHPC bridge deck overlays in Hortonville, New York; tour will also visit in-service bridges utilizing UHPC joints for precast deck panels in Oneonta, New York, and Long Eddy, New York. This tour loads at 7:20am and returns at 4:15pm.

Option 2 – Link Slab Tour – Observe construction of a UHPC link slab project in Ilion, New York; tour will also visit in-service bridges utilizing UHPC joints for precast deck panels in Latham, New York, and Utica, New York. This tour loads at 8:50am and returns at 4:00pm.

Option 3 – Fort Miller Tour – Tour the Fort Miller Precast plant where many of New York’s UHPC joint fill precast deck panels have been cast and observe a large-scale UHPC demonstration pour. This tour loads at 7:50am and returns at 4:15pm.

Option 4 – Field Technician Training – UHPC field technician training class to demystify what a field technician does – including how to properly mix UHPC, how to test the fresh properties, and how to adjust the mix for ambient temperature and desired workability. This activity begins in the Chambers Room at 8:00am.

Option 5 – Student Competition/UHPC Showcase/DIY Souvenir – Spend the day at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to tour their structures lab, learn about UHPC research being done at RPI and also at the University of Connecticut, observe the student competition, be introduced to up to five UHPC products now commercially available in North America, and make your own take-home UHPC souvenir. This tour loads at 8:20am and returns at 4:30pm.
