Dr. Mike Tokach

Dr. Mike Tokach received his B.S. degree in animal and range science from North Dakota State University, his M.S. degree in swine nutrition from Kansas State University and his PhD in swine nutrition from the University of Minnesota, studying under Dr. Jim Pettigrew. He has been on faculty at Kansas State University since 1991 where Mike now holds the position of University Distinguished Professor, the highest honor the university bestows on its faculty. Mike’s passions include training students, conducting large scale field research, and being a resource for those interested in improving the profitability of pork producers. As a member of a prolific Applied Swine Nutrition team at K-State, Mike has published over 340 journal articles, more than 1,000 extension publications, and received more than $20 million in grants and gifts to Kansas State University. Mike has advised over 100 masters and PhD students. He has received numerous academic awards, including the AFIA Non-ruminant Nutrition Research Award, the Animal Management Award, and the Extension Award, all from the American Society of Animal Science. He was appointed a Fellow of ASAS last year. The National Hog Farmer named Mike one of the 50 most influential people in the swine industry over the past 50 years.
