This year’s program will be held on Thursday and Friday, November 4th and 5th of 2021. We are going to hold the meeting as in person conference as has been done in the past. This year’s meeting will continue to strive to educate swine veterinarians in the issues that challenge swine producers across the US swine industry.

With the arrival of a new strain of PRRS virus (PRRS 1-4-4- Variant 1C), we are going to dedicate the Thursday afternoon session hearing from practitioners on what they have seen and learned as well as from diagnosticians and scientists who are studying this virus. We are also going to hear additional case studies from practitioners who are dealing with PCV2, Mycoplasma, a resurgence of post-weaning E. coli as well as case studies dealing with vesicular diseases. The Hurd/McKean lecture will focus on one clinic’s activity with monitoring on-farm antibiotic usage as well as the potential contributions to on-farm antimicrobial resistance. Updates on sow mortality, pelvic organ prolapses, and impact of growing pig biosecurity will also be featured. Lessons learned from the COVID supply chain disruption and how those lessons can help us be better prepared for a possible foreign animal disease incursion will also be covered.

Pre-conference sessions will be held on Wednesday November 3rd to provide additional help to practitioners on how to better design and execute field evaluations and judicious antibiotic use as well.
