Commercial Popcorn Conditioning

Includes discussion of basic psychrometrics, equilibrium moisture content, low temperature drying fundamentals, as well as seed cleaning and sorting processes. Intended for operations that handle large volumes of food grade product.

Color Sorting – SATAKE

June 7-9, 2022
Seed Science Center

Offers “brand specific” advanced hands-on training on the color sorting of corn and soybean seed. Company representatives available on site.

Specialty Seed Conditioning

June 21-23, 2022
Seed Science Center

Focuses on conditioning small lots of unusual or high-value products such as vegetable, flower, tree, or grass seed. Early registration is strongly advised.

Seed Corn Conditioning

Highlights seed corn conditioning methods for lot sizes typical of larger foundation and commercial seed production. Includes operations from ear corn drying through sizing and warehousing.

Soybean and Small Grain Seed Conditioning

Covers general operations required for conditioning soybean seed. Additional information provided on edible beans, small grains, sunflowers, and other crops. Includes operations from bulk storage and handling through packaging.

Seed Treatment Workshop

July 20-21, 2022
Hansen Agriculture Student Learning Center

Provides current, in-depth information on seed treatment products, seed pests and pathogens, chemical stewardship, application equipment, and calibration procedures. Includes indoor equipment displays, presentations from company representatives, and multiple concurrent sessions.

Gravity Separation

Reviews in detail the operation, adjustment, and effectiveness of destoners and gravity tables for removing foreign material and upgrading seed quality. Primary focus will be on seed corn and soybean separation, with brief discussion of other seed and food grade applications.
