Developmental Trauma: What is it, and how does it show up in our work?
Tiffany Conroy is a Licensed Independent Social Worker with 12 years of experience in mental health and public health. She started her clinical career as a therapist in Chicago, providing trauma-informed therapy through community mental health and a trauma treatment program. She returned home to Iowa in 2016 and worked in injury and violence prevention at the Iowa Department of Public Health until 2020 before returning to clinical practice. Currently, Tiffany provides trauma-based therapy in a private practice, and does consulting work on trauma-informed practices and system change on the side.
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will be able to provide a definition of Developmental Trauma that includes the possible impact across the lifespan.
- Participants will be able to understand the term “post-traumatic growth” and the importance of fostering growth after adversity.
- Participants will be able to identify at least two resources to support their efforts to understand and address the impact of Developmental Trauma and to support healing.
