Continuing Education Units (CEU)

What is a CEU?
The Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is a uniform unit that measures individual participation in noncredit continuing education programs. The CEU permits the individual who desires additional educational experiences to look to many sources of continuing education and to select from many formats common to the field, while accumulating a uniform record available for future reference. CEUs are not normally used to measure participation in traditional academic coursework, however some courses may be offered for both credit and noncredit.

One Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is defined as: Ten contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction. One contact hour equals sixty minutes of instructional contact, excluding meals and breaks.
