County-Scale Groundwater Nitrate Modeling: Linking Agricultural Land Management and Groundwater Quality

Description: This presentation highlights a county-scale workflow linking GIS-based nitrate leaching estimates with groundwater flow and transport modeling. We show how Iowa counties and watersheds can quantify nitrate load reductions needed to meet the 10 mg/L drinking-water standard by testing alternative practices such as cover-crops and perennials.
