Objective:
This webinar explores the similarities and differences between problem gambling and substance misuse, including depth of research and data, contributing factors, disease progression, and impacts on communities.
Participants will be able to:
- Compare similarities between substance use disorder and problem gambling.
- Identify common risk factors linking substance use problem gambling disorders.
- Explain how each problem impacts local communities.
Presenter:
Claire Spada, OCPC, ICPS is the Workforce Development Program Manager for Problem Gambling Network of Ohio and an Ohio Certified Prevention Consultant. She has worked in the prevention field for over 15 years which has included a focus on substance use and problem gambling prevention across the lifespan. Currently, Claire coordinates the statewide problem gambling conference, assists with training clinicians and prevention professionals, and works with drug and alcohol boards to utilize problem gambling funds effectively. Claire has experience coordinating gambling services for community agencies and has developed effective gambling screening procedures as well as has found success in integrating problem gambling into drug and alcohol prevention.
