Financial Counseling with Gambling Disorder Clients
Thursday, March 9, 2023 1:00 – 2:30 PM CST
No fee to attend
This workshop is an introduction to financial counseling with gambling disorder clients. Before this work can begin an assessment of the clients readiness to change must be done and then the client can begin to explore their relationship to money and beliefs about money. Just as a thorough biopsychosocial inventory helps us understand the client and what brings them to counseling, a thorough understanding of the client’s beliefs about money serves as a roadmap to see the path that can help restore a healthy relationship to money and to maintain the recovery process.
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
- Explore the meaning of money
- Know exercises to help client get a financial inventory
- Explore the client’s beliefs about money
