Jonathan B. Singer, Ph.D., LCSW is Professor at Loyola University Chicago’s School of Social Work, Past-President of the American Association of Suicidology, coauthor of the best-selling text, Suicide in Schools: A Practitioner’s Guide to Multi-level Prevention, Assessment, Intervention, and Postvention, and founder and host of the award-winning Social Work Podcast. Dr. Singer is a well-regarded international speaker whose research has been featured in national and international media outlets like NPR, BBC, Fox, Time Magazine, and The Guardian. He lives in Evanston, IL with his wife, three children, and dog.
Youth Suicide and Gambling
The webinar/workshop will define and review myths, terminology, and reasons regarding suicide. We will review the research on suicide and gambling disorders and how COVID may have impacted both. We will discuss screening tools to use with clients that may present risk for suicide. And lastly, we will identify several risk and protective factors for individuals with gambling disorders.
At the conclusion of this training, participants will be able to:
- Review current research for suicide and gambling disorders;
- Identify suicide screeners/assessments to use with gambling clients;
- Identify three risk factors of individuals with gambling disorder for suicidality.
