Session Description: Contingency management (CM) is an effective yet underutilized behavioral treatment, in particular for stimulant use disorders. Learn what it is, how it works, the evidence to support it, and why we should use it more.

Sara Zachman, MD, MPH

Dr. Sara K. Zachman, MD, MPH (she/her/hers) is an assistant professor in the University of Nebraska Medical Center Department of Psychiatry. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas and her medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She then completed general psychiatry residency at the University of Southern California, where she also received her master’s in public health, followed by an addiction psychiatry fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina before returning home to Omaha and joining UNMC as faculty in 2021. She works in Nebraska Medicine’s Addiction Treatment Clinic, both seeing patients in the outpatient clinic and as medical director of the Intensive Outpatient Program. She also works with patients at Charles Drew Health Center and Nebraska Medicine’s liver transplant team for pre-liver transplant psychiatric evaluations. Her professional interests include care for under-resourced populations, education, mentorship, and advocacy.
