This session will describe the latest trends we are seeing in our poisoned patients and the world of toxicology, what we can do, and what resources are available.

Learning Objectives:
Participants will:

1. Identify substances of increasing concern based on recent trends in toxicology;
2. Discuss the new/evolving information we have with respect to specific poisons;
3. Discover resources that can assist with management of poisoned individuals.

Dr. Joshua Trebach, MD, FAACT
Medical Toxicologist, Emergency Medicine Physician, Iowa Poison Control Center

Bio: Dr. Joshua Trebach is a medical toxicologist and emergency physician at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC). He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at UIHC and is the Associate Medical Director at the Iowa Poison Control Center. Dr. Trebach received his medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed his residency in emergency medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Trebach completed his medical toxicology fellowship training at New York University/New York City Poison Control Center. Dr. Trebach’s interests include medical education, public health, clinical research, disaster preparedness, plants/mushrooms, and all things toxicology!
