Prevention Focused on Special Populations

Chuck Klevgaard is a nationally recognized expert in substance misuse prevention, public health, and school-based health. Drawing on his experience in collective impact and prevention-focused partnerships, he builds the capacity of states, tribes, schools, communities, and cities to use evidence-based substance misuse prevention and intervention strategies.

This workshop will make the case that one size does not fit all for prevention in the next decade. The focus will be on providing prevention services across the lifespan and with specific populations with varying levels of risk.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify trends in substance misuse among special populations.
  2. Describe factors that place specific groups at risk.
  3. List strategies for identifying prevention strategies shown to be effective with specific populations.
