Haner Hernandez – Harm Reduction and Recovery: Lived Experiences Grounded in Equity

Dr. Hernandez is Puerto Rican, bilingual and has worked for over 35 years in health and human services. He has dedicated his career to addressing the structural determinants of health and eliminating disparities by building equity.  Dr. Hernandez has been in the forefront of developing, implementing, and evaluating culturally humble and intelligent policies, programs and procedures designed to effectively reach and engage racialized and marginalized populations.  As a person in long-term recovery from addiction, Dr. Hernandez has extensive experience in working with federal, state, and local health systems and programs as well as with people involved in the criminal justice system.

 

Harm Reduction and Recovery: Lived Experiences Grounded in Equity

This presentation will be grounded in eliminating disparities and building equity.  The Participants will learn about the impacts and role of harm reduction in accessing and maintaining recovery.  The presenter will center lived experience as fundamental in the helping professions.
