Session Description: This training provides an informational overview of the ASAM Criteria 4th Edition, focusing on updates to multidimensional assessments, risk ratings, and person-centered care. Participants will gain a clear understanding of how these updates enhance treatment planning, patient placement, and overall care delivery.

- Describe key updates in the ASAM criteria – Identify major changes, including revisions to the multidimensional assessment, risk ratings, and person-centered considerations.
- Explain the ASAM continuum of care – summarize the different levels of addiction treatment and how patient placement decisions are made.
- Recognize the impact of new standards on treatment planning – understand how the updated criteria influence treatment decisions, transitions, and discharge planning.

Sharaine Webster, LISW, IADC, is an assistant clinical professor at the University of Iowa School of Social Work and the owner of a private mental health practice. She is a licensed clinical social worker and certified alcohol and drug counselor with advanced training from the University of Iowa and the University of New England. Sharaine currently serves on the Board of Directors for both the NASW Iowa Chapter and the Iowa Board of Certification. She is dedicated to educating mental health professionals across the Midwest on substance use disorders, behavioral addictions, human sexuality, and wellness.
