A Woman’s Recovery Journey

Kimberly Govak is the Programs Manager for Faces & Voices of Recovery, Council on Accreditation of Peer Recovery Support Services (CAPRSS). As a woman in sustained recovery management from substance use disorder for over seventeen years, she remains committed to encouraging individuals, families, and communities to seek help for substance use disorder and the associated consequences affecting the individual and society. Kimberly is a Nationally Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist who has had the privilege of preparing numerous peer leaders for careers in the recovery support sector. Her motto, based upon hope, is Recovery is Possible for Everyone!


A Woman’s Recovery Journey

This presentation will discuss the personal recovery journey of a woman who struggled with substance use disorder for many years, discovered and embraced recovery, and found passion and purpose in assisting others in doing the same.

At the conclusion of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Gain a personal understanding of a woman’s recovery journey.
  • Understand many pathways of recovery
  • Have knowledge on available resources that support recovery.
