Syndromic Antimicrobial Stewardship

Dr. Van Schooneveld is a Professor in the Division of Infectious Disease, Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Dr. Van Schooneveld is the Medical Director for both the Nebraska Medicine Antimicrobial Stewardship Program and the State of Nebraska Antimicrobial Stewardship Outreach program. He also serves as the UNMC Infectious Disease Fellowship Program Director.







Session Description:  This session will help stewards implement syndromic driven stewardship initiatives. Learners will be able to understand how to approach stewardship by targeting infectious syndromes rather than individual antibiotics. We will also describe examples of syndrome-specific stewardship bundles, and teach leaners how to apply this approach for their institution.
