Respiratory Infections in the Pediatric Population
Session Description: Sarah Auerbach is a pediatric infectious diseases specialist at the University of Iowa/Stead Family Children’s Hospital. She joined the pediatric infectious diseases division in August 2022 after completing fellowship at the University of Michigan in July 2022. Prior to fellowship, she completed her pediatric residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences/Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Originally from the east coast, she is now very happy to live in the midwest and root for the Iowa Hawkeyes, specifically the women’s basketball team. When not on service, she can be found cheering on her beloved Baltimore Ravens with her menagerie of 4 dogs and 1 cat.
After this session, attendees will have improved antimicrobial prescribing in pediatric respiratory infections. The presentation will discuss the most common etiologies of respiratory infections in the pediatric population, antimicrobial prescribing in respiratory infections, and antimicrobial stewardship related to these infections.
